Continuing on with the A to Z of family friendly activities in London we have the letter M.
The husband and I have been on a lot of guided walks in London. People have taken us on guided walks but there is no beating a self-guided walking tour of London. Except for a mystery challenge walking tour of London!
I downloaded and printed a spy mystery trail from Treasure Trails. I chose the download and print at home option but you can also get the trail personalised and posted to you. The trail is about 2.5 miles in length and was fully pushchair accessible. There were also plenty of cafes and restaurants for lunch along the way, as well as parks for a sit-down and for us a chance for Henry to have a crawl around. Yep, he’s started crawling, he’s growing up so fast!
My favourite place for a crawl around was Mt Street Gardens. It’s a small patch of green nestled between some beautiful buildings. There are some beautiful sculptures, flowers and wildlife to be found. We met a friendly robin, although not friendly enough to let us get a photo before he flew away. You may have to weave between people having wedding photos taken, it seems to be very popular for a photo shoot!
The trail is a really fun way to explore an area of London. There are questions to answer along the route and directions to get you between clues. There’s a really cute spy premise which kids will love but the clues might be a bit challenging for really young kids, but they can help you navigate. Although having said that even the husband and I were stumped by a couple of clues (there is a text number if you’re really stuck!). The trail takes in a Banksy, a notorious gambling club as well as some beautiful squares and gardens.
We stopped for lunch at a Pret which was just what we needed and is a good family friendly cheap lunch option. There were plenty of places for toilet stops and coffee for the sleep deprived amongst us. Another great family friendly day.
